Axis Orientation in attribute editor

I was using someone else's rigging to do a vanilla walk cycle, and I found the orientation in the attribute editor doesn't match the world axis, instead, it's matched to the local rotation axis. However, with my rigging, the attribute editor's orientation matches the world axis instead of the local rotation axis. How is the orientation in the attribute editor determined, and how could I align it to the world axis?

Go into component mode and set your selection mask to rotation axis.  Then select it and rotate as you would any transform node.
