attaching clothes to rigged character

Hi,

I have a custom character which was auto rigged in miximo, and would like to add clothes. I've spent a lot of time researching and trying ideas, but still naked he is. He is in many parts, but when I try and change anything then adding animations stops working. wrap deformer sucks down all of my memory and then of course system hangs.

Hopeful for  a suggestion

cheers!

Mike

You would place the clothes in default position of the character.

Now click the base joint in the hierarchy and click the geometry... you go to bind skin and theres now a connection between the joints of Maya with the geometry of the clothing.

You do nonetheless have to paint weights now for it to deform properly is all (:

Like DlopezDeMedrano said... but after doing that you can copy the skin weight from the character to the cloth by selecting the character mesh and then the cloth and go to skin > copy skin weights. this will help you to deform the cloth as the character moves. And if you see some penetration between these try changing cloth geometry's skin method to "Dual Quanterion " .

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info, I just search for that issue.  Sad I haven't been taught about it in class. 😞

Cheers!

Hi, to export you should be able to export as an FBX and put it into unity, alternatively there is a send to unity button under file. sometimes its doesn't like exporting in Maya so click send to motion builder and export as an FBX from there 🙂
