Animating with the Shape Editor

Hi guys,

I'm really new to the shape editor so I'm a little unsure about how to animate with it very easily. I've read the key information pages on it on this website so I know that to key an expression in you press the red circle. But as far as I can see, they don't mention anything about its connection with the timeline or the graph editor. The keys that I set on the blends don't show up on the timeline, the editor or the channel box and I feel like it'll be difficult to edit timing or curves for slow ins and outs.

I love the feature where you can group blendshapes together so I think I went kind of crazy with it. The folders that I set up don't appear in the channel box (I've attached a picture of my blend shape set up for my character blinking and the channel box).

Is this a limitation of the shape editor that when you have folders within folders and you're applying several blends at the same time it won't work? Or is the shape editor really mainly a way to manage blends and not a primary way to animate with? Or is there actually a way to see all the keys in the graph editor on the blends? I'm hoping it's the latter!

Hoping someone can help me with this question, thanks so much for reading!

Hi!

Just select your blendShape node to see the keys and animation in Timeline and Graph Editor.
