All channels are keyed instead of selected one

I'm trying to key translate x particularly but it keys all the channels. I've turned on sync graph editor and timeline from the channel box. any solution/suggestion will help.

Tried restarting maya didn't worked

I've reset the preferences by deleting it.

I've restarted maya and my pc.

The problem is not scene specific I tried it with new scene and just a cube and it still gives this problem.

sync graph editor is just to sync the visibility filter in the graph editor.

sync timeline is to sync the visible keyframes in the timeline

Neither will affect what gets keyed when you press the 's' key 

• you can key a selected channel in the channel box using the right click menu in the channel box for "key selected"
• you can press shift + t to key just the translate channels   (shift + e for rotate, and shift + r for scale)
• and you can set you "set keyframe options"  to "all keyable attributes"  and "channels" to "from Channel box    ( this will key all keyable channels with no selected channels,  and only the selected channel when a channel is selected.
