Why can't I set a key in my controllers?

Hi

I select all children controllers (all controllers are parented to the main - root controller) at once but the main one (root controller) and I get an error message when trying to key all of them / Error: line 0: animCurve creation or connection failed for attribute ctrl_right_foot.Tiptoe // . What is this? Why can't I key all of children controllers? I only am able to key the root one but others won't animate

See if ctrl_right_foot.Tiptoe doesn't have any incoming connections or constraints driving it already. If you don't select ctrl_right_foot and try to key does it let you then?
