Turning a texture a different color in an animation

I have a human model doing exercises routines. When the main muscle flexes I want to show the "helper" muscles by having them turn red or glow red.

Can't get too descriptive here as there are contracts in place lol

Would this be like a shapedeformer only for textures? Very very new here. Sorry. 😕

A straight forward approach to doing this would be to keyframe the color channel of the material on the muscle you want to change color. If you want to only change the color on this object it will need its own material so creating a new lambert or blinn and then assigning the muscle object to it is important. To keyframe the color is should be as easy as this:

1. Click on the muscle

2. Find the material in the Attribute Editor

3. Right click the color channel and select "Set Key"

5. Advance the timeline forward

6. Click on the color box in the attribute editor to activate the color picker and select a red color

7. Right click the color channel and select "Set Key"

Now if you scrub the timeline back and forth it should change the color of the object over time. You mentioned you are new so let me know if I used terms that aren't familiar to you.
