Scaling rigged characters with Xgen IGS hair

Hello!

We have several characters rigged with Advanced Skeleton that I have done grooms for. They aren't animated, but we do pose them. We have realized that some of the models are very different scales than the others, and wanted to know the best way to scale a rigged and groomed character.

Just scaling with the root scale for the rig moves the hair just fine, even keeps the groom, but it doesn't change the length of the hair.

  • The xgen description is outside of the root group, the geo it is bound to is inside it.
  • The xgen groom is done on the skinned geo itself, not a scalp or copy.
  • Parent constraining the description gets me double transforms, as does moving the descriptions under the root.

My next ideas were to write an expression taking the root scale and plugging into the description's scale function, but I'm not sure if that's a good workaround, or will make a slow rig even slower?

Man, that seems way too easy! I'll play with it, see why our rigging guy just didn't do that. Thank you!
