Renderman Rendering Character Problem!

I've downloaded a spiderman rig from creativecrash and when I render it in mental ray there is no problem but who do I render it in renderman?

When I'm rending the rig with renderman it comes out ambient occlusion and all the texture and colors are not there.

I've selected the mesh and made it a pixarmaterial but then it'll be a color like blue??? HELP!

You may need to use renderman materials.

If you have reassigned the texture files after you changed the material to the pixar material and it's still rendering blue, try this:

  1. Create a new project in Maya. (Call it Spiderman if you want.)
  2. Place the scene file you downloaded in the scenes directory of the project.
  3. Place the texture files in the sourceimages directory
  4. Open the scene, select the model, and assign the PxrDisney material to it.
  5. Click on the checkerboard next to the Base Color field, and assign the diffuse texture file to it.
  6. Now try rendering with the Renderman/RIS renderer. The texture should now show up.

I'm not a Renderman expert, but it may be that Renderman doesn't work well without a proper project hierarchy.

(BTW, if it's the Matthew Lowe rig you downloaded, I just tried it using the steps above and it worked.)

So I moved the files to where you wrote. And then I selected the mesh (of spiderman) and then I clicked on create pxrdisney then I picked one of the texture files which are tga but I'm still getting the blue pixrmaterial. I'm not getting any problems when I render with mental ray though.

Yeah it is the matthemlowe version.

What should I do now?

Hmmm....that's odd. I had the exact same result until I did the steps I listed, and now it works fine. The only difference I can see is that I'm using Maya 2016. Out of curiosity, open your render settings and go to the Workspace tab and please upload a screenshot of that. Anyway, here's what I get when I render it now:

One other thing I noticed...you're getting a warning when you render that I'm not getting. Something is definitely screwy...

Wow your render looks great man! **** it! Wonder what's wrong.
I'm using Maya 2015 SP5. I don't really like the new user interface, know what I mean? But I did try it and I think I still had the same problem when rendering.

It looks like Renderman isn't seeing your project. You did use the File->Project window to set it up, right? And if you did, do a File->Set Project to make sure that is the currently active project. Note how my workspace paths have "Spiderman" where yours say "untitled."

I did what you reccomended but it's still not working. I've selected the project but for some reason it still says untitled instead of data.

That's strange...when I first open his scene and it changes the renderer to Mental Ray, as soon as I change it to Renderman/RIS and open the settings to that Workspace tab, the paths update correctly. I'm not sure what to tell you at this point...you may want to ask in the Rendarman forums.
