point constrained locator to bound mesh won't follow

A locator (or any object) with a point constraint to an unbound polygon primitive sphere (eyeball) follows the sphere translations around.  But when I create a joint at center of sphere and skin-smooth-bind sphere, moving (translating) the joint moves the sphere but the locator doesn't follow anymore?

Shouldn't the locator simply follow the center of the sphere regardless if sphere is translated directly or translated by moving joint to which sphere is bound?

Nope

Because when you point constrain an object to a polygon object. You constrain it to its transform matrix, not to its bounding box center.

When you skin that object, and move the joint around, you arent affecting its transform matrix, but rather the points itself. That happens below the transform and wont reflect in any constraint you have coming from that object.

If you want the thing to follow along, simply constrain it to the driving joint instead.

Thanks s_ehrenhaus for (one more time! Smiley Happy) saving me much head scratching.  Now that you explained I notice that the move, rot, scale tools for the bound sphere show a disabled pivot point back at the original (before binding) mesh location.  Thanks a million.
