playblast without overscan

Honestly I wish the playblast would actually playblast what we will be rendering. so no matter whether overscan is turned on or not, it should playblast only from the camera view without the overscan. This is a constant headache..-_-'

set the camera's overscan to 1

*(if you turn on the render gate, it automatically sets the overscan to 1.3

and in the playblast settings. turn on "from render settings"

I know, but it is easier to work with overscan on 1.3, and the animators has to change it to 1 to playblast. Which means we keep having animators that mess up. I don't actually see a scenario were it would be useful for the overscan to be a part of the playblast. We generally playblast what we intend to render to see the animation shots clipped together. So I wish autodesk would at least give the option in the playblast settings to ignore overscan.

you can set the overscan to 1 on the camera, and use the pan zoom tool, if they animators need to see outside the render view.

or ,  What a lot of studios / artists do is write simple scripts to set the settings correctly pre-playblasting.

(I honestly haven't used the vanilla playblast window in close to 20 years  🙂  )

I know, I will probably have to make myself a playblast tool. I am in a small company of 5 people (including economy and comp), so I have to make time in-between projects to make tools for us. I do feel however that since so many just has to make their own playblast tool, they might as well fix the maya vanilla one.
