Playblast settings different for Mac?

I am in a computer animation class in school and we are using Maya. My teacher, when turning in walk cycles, wants us to do a playblast. She wants the format to be the "qt" option for quicktime and then other settings based on that.

However when I do my homework on my Mac and open the playblast settings, it only gives me two options: avfoundation and image. When I select the avfoundation option, it does save as a .mov file and it opens in Quicktime. Are the format settings just different because I am a Mac user? I opened the same file on a Windows computer at school and it gave me all of the usual options, qt and everything else.

I'm thinking that's what the problem is, because I just downloaded a completely new and up-to-date version of Maya and I haven't really changed any of the settings, I just want to ask to be sure!

Thank you in advance!

Oh codecs... Perhaps you need to download the Quicktime codec from Apple, but if you get a .mov file and it looks good and isn't suuuper large, then I'd say you should be good. As long as you (and your teacher) can view the file that's the most important thing. Talk about it with your teacher as well and let her know about what happens.

Good luck with the homework!

I haven't been able to playblast on Mac OSX since Maya 2105. So I just use the older version of Maya.
