Paint weights error

Hi

i have to keep painting the weights again and again… and opening file the weights I have painted are not the same…. It’s ridiculous. Any idea why? I paint the weights then go to another joint. When I go back to one I just done it’s gone again! How are you supposed to rig a character! Not seen this before. Maya 2018. Wtf

skinCluster.maintainMaxInfluences enabled?

I’m not sure how you do this to be honest?

see skin cluster's attrEd.. with low number of maxInfluences you might ruin existing weights. I'd make sure to disable it completely.
