Not Importing or Referencing in Duplicate Nodes

I am trying to import in skinned meshes that are all rigged to the same skeleton. I want to import or reference in these meshes and combine them onto an identical skeleton already in the scene.
I know there is some function within importing or referencing files to do this, but every combination of settings I try brings in a new skeleton as well.

Hi!

As far as I know, there isn't a way to directly bind meshes to an identical skeleton during import. Not importing duplicates only works for shading networks, but they are a lot simpler and more separate than rigs/deformers.

What you can do is export weightmaps for the meshes, then export the meshes into a separate file, import that file into your scene, bind them to the other skeleton and import the weightmaps again.

Or, I'm assuming that you want to bind your meshes to a new skeleton because this skeleton is already animated. You can just copy the animation from the animated skeleton onto the skeleton in with the skins attached to it. This is normally more robust than transferring an entire rig.

I hope this helps!
