nCloth: key-framing stays where it is

Hi all,

I'm new to MAYA and have started to follow tutorials etc. I've created a Batman Lego (Tutorial) and have been reading about n-cloth.

I have parented (right word?) the "cape" to the torso, set the wind to 0.

What I would like to do is to move the figure to the top of the screen, drop it in and the cape should follow from above the head.

So ... I keyframe at the top, move forwards and then when I try and move the figure - the cape stays there!

I've read somewhere that it needs to be parented but unsure how to do that.

Any help and suggested would be great.

Thanks!!

Try using the point to surface nConstraint. Select a few vertices on the cape, then shift+Select the body and click nConstraint->Point to Surface. Also, select the body and make it a passive collider so the cape doesn't penetrate it.

Don't keyframe the cape...it will follow wherever you move your rig. Also, don't worry if the cape doesn't follow when you manually move your rig around the scene...it will once you play your animation.

Thank-you for your help. It seems to be working OK 🙂

Really rewarding to finally get somewhere with it 🙂
