I get this error when I try to ghost the geometry from bony rig.

"Mesh with animated topology "Ultimate_Bony_v1_0_5:Bony_R_armShape" cannot be ghosted."

what would be the reason and solution to this ?

Is the mesh subdivided? ('3' button)

No, it's not in smooth preview.

-Also when I ghost the group in which all the geometry is in it gives me this error-

// Warning: Cycle on 'Ultimate_Bony_v1_0_5:Bony_Main_CNT.scale' may not evaluate as expected. (Use 'cycleCheck -e off' to disable this warning.) //

*the rig is referenced.

I think it works only if the geometry has keys.

hey thanks for the reply,

that's not how the rig should behave right?, the geometry should ghost even without keying the geometry.

my other rigs ghost properly even though I have just animated the controllers.

by the method you stated - it doesn't work even though I have keyed the geometry as well.

no error this time though.

I don't know the reason, sorry. I just use 'bhGhost'.

Hey, @Kahylan anything you can help with ? It's not reported anywhere on the internet nor I'm getting any answers on other maya forums.

I took a look, but sadly I didn't find the problem either.

It's a pretty old rig, and does a lot of things differently than they would be done today.

It uses drawing overrides on the geo to set it to reference, uses polysmoothangle history nodes instead of smooth mesh preview and so on.

Some of these choices or maybe all of them together are probably causing your ghosting problem, I tried to eliminate those things, but sadly it didn't help, so I also don't know what causes this ghosting issue.
