import motion capture data

Could someone point me to a tutorial on how to import multiple motion capture data .fbx files onto the same character in the same scene file so I can get a character to go seamlessly from one behavior to another, i.e. walking to stopping and talking with someone. I have gone through tutorials on custom rig mapping for my character and can import mocap for it, but only one mocap file at a time. One tutorial used time editor to export clips and claimed you can build a library of mocap data for a character for later importation, but never actually showed it could be done, and I can't get it to work successfully. Thanks.

Best,

Mike

The wonderful thing with fbx format is that if the name of a node being imported into a scene already exists in the scene, it will overwrite.  Thus my solution has been to import with namespaces.

Hi mcw0,

Thank you for responding. I have imported mocap fbx files with namespaces, but my character only obeys one source fbx at a time. Is there something simple I am missing to connect them head to tail together as well as even adding more fbx animation data to the timeline? Do you know of a tutorial I can follow on this? Thanks.

Best,

Mike

Use the Trax Editor to make clips and then arrange them on a timeline.

Hi mcw0,

Thanks. I will check it out more thoroughly tomorrow, but in just skimming through, it looks like it is about creating your own animations and saving those out as clips, not importing mocap data and saving those animations out. I think there is some step I am missing. The character seems to only be able to source or reference the mocap data, not merge it as actual animation key-frames connected to the character and independent from the fbx file.
