frame per second in preference does not save.

Hi,

Frame per second in preference does not save. So, every time I start new scene(not open the exsiting scene, maya file), I have to set frame per second in preferences. Even if I saved it in maya preferences.

Is there any way I can  set default frame per second. So, it affect any new scenes in the future?

I tried to save frame per second in

- Time Slider / Setting / Preference,

and

Setting

Both does not  change anything and affect new created scene's FPS.

Thank you,

DS

Thank you for the reply.

So, should I do "File > New Scene [OPTIONS] "?

I noticed that in the studio, they seem to set the defualt FPS which is 30FPS. Evertime I create new scene it is always 30FPS..Is there way to set the default FPS?

By the way, your answer helps a lot.

Thank you,

DS

This may be late to the game but opening maya then open>new scene is not the most efficient way of doing it.

This worked for me. delete the workspace.mel file that your project is set to. With maya open set the fps to 30 save preferences and close maya. Opening maya again with the project set to this workspace.mel file will open with the fps set to 30.

Really silly that maya doesnt specify this when saving preferences..

Hope that helps.

Hi!

It IS the most efficient way for NEW SCENES.

For already existing scenes just use Preferences -> Time Slider or the input field besides the time slider in the UI.

The workspace.mel has nothing to do with the frame rate (except if there is any custom script path defined with a custom script that changes this setting).

Never simply delete the workspace.mel , this will break your project setup.

Hi,

It was a reply to help the OP find out why his scene wasnt opening with it set to the frame rate he was saving to. As you say its more efficient to go to new scene yada yada yada. That is true if you have maya open already he probably meant when he opens it from the desktop or icon. I prefer maya to be as it should be, when I open it from my desktop. At the rate it crashes some times, opening a new scene isnt even possible..  Less clicks to get started is how I like my maya. Open maya, work. Yes if maya is already open I go for new scene. Sometimes you need to delete prefs, some times renew the workspace.mel. Might not be the way you like it but it works for others.

Again it was a suggestion to the OP's question thats all.

Enjoy,

I may be a bit late too, but you don't need to File>New Scene on every startup.  How would you even think something that ridiculous was being offered as a solution to OP's question?

You only need to open the New Scene options one time. Set the FPS you desire. Then Edit>Save Settings. Next time you launch Maya, it will automatically be set to whatever FPS you chose.

Im having an issue, I cant seem to get the settings to stick for framerate. I change it in the preferences and I set it for new scenes and when I open that secne from previously working on it then it switches my maya 2020 back to 23.976 and says that there is a framerate mismatch with the file im opening.

Ive tried all the solutions here, is there a way to set it, like hard code it in the maya prefs file in the home directory?
