Expression editor crashing in Maya 2022.1 on Mac

I am having issues with the expression editor crashing when i paste in code that i know works.

I'm following a tutorial on rigging a tank I tried this tutorial a few years ago and got it working but the drive expression seems to crash maya every time. I even went back to my old file from a few years ago that works and deleted the expression and tried re creating it with the same code and it crashed.

It even seems to crash on the sample file for the tutorial.

Works here on M2019@PC.

It spits out division-by-zero error however. If you are not following tutorial step by step, then enter in the drive_ctrl.radius at least something, like 1.
Otherwise, make some screencast of crash, so everyone on Mac can see what is actually going on.
