Current manipulator and active objects have no keyable attributes Error

Hey Guys,

Recently whenever I've been working with one rig, I keep getting this message: // Warning: file: C:/Program Files/Autodesk/Maya2017/scripts/others/doSetKeyframeArgList.mel line 634: Current manipulator and active objects have no keyable attributes, , or animation layers are present and the BaseAnimation bar is not selected or locked. // As I'm fairly new to Maya, I have no idea what this means. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Michael

The message is simple,

Maybe the controller you selected is locked ( you can see the grey in the channel box attributes )

To unlock; select all those attributes and right click then choose unlock selected.

or in the second case go to the animation Layers and check if there are any layers and if yes select the base animation.Screenshot (53).png

I face a similar issue. Mine is a controller of a rig. In its output it has only a channel ("Blender")in yellow colour that I cannot unlock. The rest of the channels in that output (Color 1R, Color 1G, Color 1B etc) are red. This means that they can be keyframe, compared to the yellow Blender one that has the value of 0.

Whenever I am trying to keyframe the controller it won't record the motion or it may record partially but it won't blend appropriately and if I go back at frame 1, the motion will not be correct. It may has some motion but not the complete cycle. It is weird. Most of the times, it won't keyframe at all and I get the error message "// Warning: file: /Applications/Autodesk/maya2020/Maya.app/Contents/scripts/others/doSetKeyframeArgList.mel line 633: Current manipulator and active objects have no keyable attributes, or animation layers are present and the BaseAnimation bar is not selected or locked. //

Rig is not referenced neither has any base animation with it. Checked it.

You need to reset the Set Key tool.

Hello,

Besides Checking your curves with J and H keys to see if they are not locked on the graph editor, maya 2022 comes with this error:

If you use "set key preserves cure shape" it will ruin all on some rigs. Check out that option too.  It solved my problem.

For me, the problem was that the original rig I referenced had a keyframe on one specific controller that didn't allow me to move or do a keyframe on my animation scene. If you delete that keyframe it should work
