Controller on a rig randomly disappeared?

Hey guys, I'm running into an odd problem. I am currently attempting to animate something that I've been animating for a while now and at one point in the past couple weeks....my hip_ctl controller just vanished. It's nowhere to be found in the outliner and hiding/unhiding things doesn't seem to help. I didn't delete this controller, it's not on a separate layer, and i've not hidden anything at all. Anyone have any ideas at all? Thanks in advance.

You can try running the select MEL command to see if it's still in the scene. For example, if your hips were named "hips_ctrl" you can run the following command to select it:

select "hip_ctrl";

It's telling me that the object isn't in the scene and i'm not sure how that's possible or how it even could have gotten deleted. I've not deleted anything since i've started this project, especially not a controller. So if it's not in scene, then it has been deleted correct? Is there anyway to recover it?

The select command not finding anything might also mean it could have been accidentally renamed, but since you looked through your scene and couldn't find anything that might mean it was some how deleted.

The only way I can think of to recover your hips is to go to a previous save and see how it was setup and setup a new hip in your current scene.
