Blendshapes in the Time Editor

I'm trying to edit a facial animation that has both bones and blendshape animation and I want to use the NLE features of the timeline to cut sections of mocap out and blend together.

Am I missing something, or is there no way to get blendshape animation into a track on the Time Editor timeline? If not, it seems like an odd omission. I can write a script to feed the animation into dummy bones and then put them in the timeline, but that's a whole lot of work and a bit of crazy for something that should be a default function.

Someone please tell me I'm just missing something obvious...?

after whole day seeing node editor , i saw the problem is the interpolation node , the one that get the animation curves and plug them back again with the orange time editor filter...... i found some workaround , need other "normal" attribute to get the same animation values as blendshape , add attribute in whatever object and copy the blendshape curve there , then this curve will work in the time editor , just need in the node editor , plug the output of this attribute animation to the input of blendshape weight object name....... at least in this way can save the scene , maybe maya 2025 will be fixed

@mikefoy1570 There was a workaround mentioned before here in the thread:

You set an custom attribute for a locator or a group or whatever object. This is only used as a controller for the blendshape attribute values.

This object will be accepted by the time editor.

Then you can connect each new created attribute with the connection editor to the blendshape attribute.

A bit tedious, you have to set it up for each single blendshape, but so it's possible to get them all movable into the time editor.

Creating new attributes is possible in the channel box.

Still can't modify blendshapes with time editor at the newest Maya 2023, any update or proper steps for fixing this will be highly appreciated.

Used Blender's NLA editor for this matter and it worked like a charm.

I installed 2023 and some buttons disappeared in the blend shape panel (key and visibility)
Let's hope for maya 2024 ... or maybe it's time to look further

Hi all,

Note that this issue was recently fixed in our internal branches of Maya:

Maya-87241 :  TimeEditor : Blendshape animation clips are not working
