Hello ,

when I build the rig face in advanced skeleton it completed all the steps except the lips, this error message appears:

Documents/maya/2020/scripts/AdvancedSkeleton5/AdvancedSkeleton5.mel line 21999: No object matches name: lowerLipJoint15

any help please??

Are you having issues setting up the lips? Is so use multi component mode in tools pallet, select your preferred edges around the lips, select verts at corners of the mouth, then build the lips.

hello dear,

when you select the edges for lips , go to modeling toolkit at the right in Maya and choose multi component then choose the vertices and edges , so now you can select the vertices of the lips plus the edges .

Note: choose 3 vertices of the lips : the corner and the up middle and the down middle .

Hey everyone, I recently encountered the same error and tried various methods, but it wasn't working.

However, by following these tips, I noticed something: sometimes the issue can be with the mesh itself. Check if there are any vertices or edges that are separated or even duplicated. This may not be immediately apparent, but it can disrupt the loop and cause AdvancedSkeleton to not recognize things properly.

After using 'Merge' on the duplicated vertices, I had to redo some parts, but it worked. Additionally, by following the previously mentioned tips, it should solve the problem

A simple solution to this: use non-symmetrical when doing face rig

How did you fix the jaw? did you mean in the body rig or something in the face setup happened?

it is during the body set up, so try centering the chin joint in rebuilding the skeleton. if that doesn’t work try unbinding, centering the joint, and then rebinding. if you have already done the skinning or weighting duplicate your mesh before unbinding and after you rebind it copy your weights Back on using the duplicate mesh.

I have a similar issue with the lips except my error is with the top lip.

// Error: /AdvancedSkeleton/AdvancedSkeleton.mel line 30488: No object matches name: upperLipJoint6_L

I have tried re selecting the edgeloops plus the multi select and it continues to have the error. I am hoping it doesn't come down to starting over. Any other suggestions?

did you figure this out? I'm having the same issue.

OOOO, I didn't try that. What ended up being the case, was that my mesh wasn't symmetrical? Which is odd since I modeled the face with symmetry turned on. Regardless, I set the mesh to assymetrical in the advanced skeleton face options. That pretty much solved it.

What helped me was setting the face rig option to assymetrical. It required a few more steps then usual, but I got through it without a hitch!

Hey! That error usually means the lowerLipJoint15 is either missing or wasn't properly created during the lip rig setup. Try going back a step and checking if all lip joints were generated before finalizing the rig. Also, make sure none of the joints were accidentally renamed or deleted—Advanced Skeleton relies heavily on exact naming.
