Merge CAM Discussions & General Discussion

Looking at the usage of some of these boards and the topics in them, there is a lot of overlap.

What you you think about merging "General Discussion" with "CAM Discussion"

I think, that is already happening organically

What are your thoughts?

(BTW - This is something I have complete control over, unlike some of the other things I ask for your advice on)

🙂

Regards,

Al

Note, I love to engage on the forums. However, I spend a lot of time in meetings trying to help clear the path for our amazing team of Developers working on Manufacturing at Autodesk. So, if I don't respond immediately, it's not that I don't care.

I'm all for it. There's not a lot of off-topic banter on these boards, which I view as a good thing.

I'll add that the Mobile site needs some help too, as the Beta Testing forum isn't viewable, nor is the Ideas section easily reachable from the header page via a simple link as it is on the full site.

@Steinwerks exactly - feels like a coin toss on where to put the "off topic stuff"  when it should just be an organic part of the feed.

From there - we could talk about better use of tags to help optimize search.

Idea: Perhaps the General discussion could get turned into a dedicated machining discussion forum?

There are lots of machinist forums, but it would be interesting to have one where the strategies/techniques one implements are tied more directly to the CAM software we are all using. There are also a lot of super talented machinists on here and it would be fantastic to see their input expanded beyond the programming side of the equation and into the strategies + techniques parts.

@Anonymous  I agree.

With that in mind

If Support is the HSM product specific support

Then could CAM Discussion & General Discussions not be the new combined Machining Discussions forum?

Too many folders without an specific meaning or identity.

So good to go.

It seems like we all agree.  I will give it a day or two to make sure that a good reason to not do this doesn't come up.

However, I am fairly certain this is the right things to do.

Thanks for the feedback guys!

I never could figure out exactly what the "general" forum was supposed to be for.  Combine away!
