Hello everyone,
First, I’d like to announce the release of the new Define a Tolerance Stackup guided tutorial! This tutorial demonstrates how to use the Tolerance Analysis add-in which is provided with the Product Design & Manufacturing Collection. The Tolerance Analysis add-in is compatible with 2019.1 and 2019.2.
You don’t need the Tolerance Analysis add-in to download the tutorial and watch the workflow videos!
And thanks to the localization team, the help and guided tutorial are available in all language versions!
Help is here:

30-day trial is here:

I also wanted to share that last night I had the opportunity to do a presentation to the local Portland user group about how 3D Annotation, Model-based definition, and Tolerance Analysis all work together.
Here’s the scenario I demonstrated:
- Add MBD tolerance information to the parts and run Tolerance Analysis on the assembly
- Tolerance Analysis detects and (bi-directionally) uses the MBD part feature tolerance information in the analysis
- Tolerance Analysis fails in Worst Case, RSS, and statistical
- Tolerance Analysis lists the stackup contributors from greatest to least
- Relax the tolerance for the greatest contributor in either MBD part or Tolerance Analysis table
- The tolerance value updates in both places and the analysis succeeds
I’ll be creating a new guided tutorial that demonstrates this workflow sometime after AU. See some of you there!
Safe travels!
Paul
