Hi,

I am a new hire and arrived with Inventor 2016 installed on my machine.  However, the rest of my company is still using 2014.  I was told to use the custom sheetmetal templates they have developed for the sheet metal parts fab'd in the shop on site.  However, When I set the Design Data file path to the directory they all use, 2016 throws an error saying that the folder is incomplete (see attached error message).  Understandably, there are file differences between the two versions.  Is there a simpler/faster way to import the 2014 data into my own 2016 Design Data directory than grabbing the data from the 2014 XML and bringing it into my own 2016 XML files (adjusting for formatting and such).  Redeveloping them manually from the GUI isn't really an option right now.

Thanks,

Brian

The simplest solution would be to copy the 2014 Design Data folder to a new location (lets say C:\2016 Design Data). Then use the 'Autodesk Inventor Style Library Manager 2016' which can be found in your start menu (Autodesk > Inventor 2016> Tools). With the manager tool you can 'Migrate' an existing library to the latest version. This will use what you have as a template and add any of the missing bits. Just open up the style library using the open button under 'Style Library 1' and click the conveniently highlighted 'Migrate' button.
