Visual Studio 2022 and Inventor 2021 compatibility

As stated above I have Inventor Pro 2021 and Visual Studio Pro 2022. When I try to install the developertools.msi I get the "Could not find any version of Microsoft Visual Studio." error msg. Is this a compatibility issue?

Thank you in advance,

Hi,

here you have a Solution:

Gelöst: Betreff: Inventor 2023 install developer tools - cannot find version of Visual Studio - Auto...

you need to install Visual Studio 2019.

Then you will be able to instal SDK.

Then you can simple copy the the Addin Templete from Folder 2019 and past in Folder 2022.

Documents\Visual Studio 2019\Templates\ProjectTemplates

to

Documents\Visual Studio 2022\Templates\ProjectTemplates

What can I expect if I upgrade inventor to 2023 pro?

It might less of a hassle to wait for that upgrade rather than try to down grade a paid version of VS.

I think Inventor 2023 still not Support VisualStudio 2022.

Maybe later or even Inventor 2024 or 2025.

You can simply intall VisualStudio 2019 Comunity (for Free) - only to install SDK.

Then uninstal, but dot Forgot to Copy the Addin Templete Folder from 2019.

I use VS 2022 with Inventor 2022.

And the Templete are from VS 2019

So in short, all that the SDK provides is the two zip files, one of which is the template? Can just down load those files and use them?

no, when you will have VS 2019, you will be able to install SDK.

It will automaticly create a Folder in your Document:

Documents\Visual Studio 2019\Templates\ProjectTemplates

VBInventorAddInTemplate202X -  "for VB.NET"

VCSInventorAddInTemplate202X - "for C#"

Copy the 2 Zip File to your Folder:

Documents\Visual Studio 2022\Templates\ProjectTemplates

Done!

Just ran into this with someone else in the office.

Our machines here have our documents folders mapped to one drive - and you guess it, MS doesn't account for that on their installer....the irony.

However, i have a machine all of 2 months old and it has never had anything but VS 2022 installed. Same with the other guy in the office who had the problem.  I was able to install the SDK no problem though. The difference? I had VS 2013, 15, 17, 19, and 22 on my last machines.

In setting up the new machine, it copied/created folders for the older VS's in my Documents folder. There are no reg keys or program files entries on this machine for anything but 2022. So, is it possible that all you need is a Visual Studio 2019 folder in the right spot for the SDK install to work?

I've never get the SDK to install with VS Express/Community anyway.

So I just unpack the MSI.
