Hello together,

is there a way to convert assemblies into Universal Robot Description Format (URDF)?
I found a program which do it for a simple robot. Is it possible to do it for any structure or is there a direct way to do this like in SolidWorks?

You have to develop your own application for this purpose. 
BTW it would be nice to see it on the Autodesk App Store...

I just submitted an application called RoboVerter to AutoDesk.  It will convert Inventor assemblies to URDF files.  It should be available in the app store in a week or so assuming it gets approved.

For anyone strongly desiring this conversion, PickNik Consulting is very interesting in building this. We would continue the development and maintenance of the existing effort from a few years ago (https://github.com/rjvallett/URDF-Converter). We maintain the Solidworks  to URDF converter and have the software expertise to build this out an Inventor approach for a client.

I would be glad to help with anything I can.  The program I made worked well the last time I checked, the only issue was with STL scaling on export.  

Unfortunately, I have been working on other projects lately and have not had time to put the finishing touches on mine.

The repository has both the .bundle file for installing the plugin and the source files.

Download RoboVerter.bundle. I put the roboverter.bundle as in

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\RoboVerter.bundle

or

C:\Users\$myusername$\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Inventor 2013\Addins\RoboVerter.bundle

Inventor 2013 was restarted and it looks like that roboverter is not added.

What should be done to get it added as plug-in?

Hi! @GeorgK I am using Fusion 360 to URDF converter, but its time consuming for remapping all the joints, etc. But it works well...
