Turn off visibility of welds in an occurrence

I can't figure out how to do turn off the visibility of the welds in a component occurrence via the API. I'm simplifying assemblies so I can export them to STEP with less detail. I tried turning welds off in ObjectVisibility but they still come through after exporting.

looks like one of the ComponentOccurrences is the welds, the name of it is like "_Weldbead:1"
