Searching Text in Notes Only on a Boatload of idws

Greetings Inventor community,

I am currently tasked with identifying all Inventor idws that have a drawing number called out in a note. We have typically done this for auxiliary equipment, tools, or shipping drawings, or in the case of part files, a specialty coating. Something that isn't necessarily part of the physical assembly, but still needs to be referenced on the drawing. We are now moving to Vault attachments to track & link those files, so I need to identify them to create those attachments.

I have approximately 30,000 idws that I need to scan to identify if there are any drawing numbers in those notes. Simply scanning the entire drawing via creating a PDF & using the Find command won't work for assemblies because it will find every drawing number in every Parts List. I need to scan only the notes.

Is anyone aware of a tool that can do this or think of an efficient way to go about it?

Many thanks in advance!

The short answer is "Yes".  BUT, it will require an iLogic note to do it.  A rule the hones in on the drawing notes.

I am not an iLogic guru, so I cannot help you there.  I know there are on these forums that can write you up a rule to get you started.  Good luck.

This isn't exactly what you are looking for, but here is a link for one guy (Curtis) that is very good at writing these rules.
