Screenshot for Inventor (02/2010) - Buried in the Lab?

Good evening here,

I'm only a random visitor in the Customization forum, but I'm regularly present in Inventor's main forum.

Being now at age of 68, I know, that glass is going more to empty than full. But I'm glad to see, that some people still like my work.

After some adventures with badly paying customers I'm now in contact with a small innovative company, that seems to be a better partner.

But during a presentation with my 10-years-old HP 8710w notebook I noticed bad performance, response to 3Dx device was sloppy. Therefore I decided to spend a big percentage of my first payment into a new notebook (Lenovo P70 with Quadro M4000M and 4K resolution, 48 GB RAM, 1.5 TB SSD total). Inventor Bench shows better results than my desktop workstation.

But during software transfer I noticed some problems with Inventor plugins:

- I can't find a way for installing Inventor Screenshot plugin (ADN February 2010)

- Creaffectivity Visual Replace installs, but doesn't show up in the ribbon

- Same with some others, minor important for me

What can be done?

Thanks for hints

Walter

Thanks for help, Mike, but it's still confusing.

On my main machine, the Screenshot plugin is placed as in the screenshot.

Inventor Screenshot location.jpg

It's working ok there. But if I'm copying this folder at the same place on the notebook, nothing changes.

Another mystery with the VisualReplace plugin. It's ok in 2017 on my main machine.

On my notebook, it doesn't appear in 2017. But it's present in 2016. Now, when I've opened both Inventor 2017 and 2016 there, I can click on VisualReplace in 2016, and select the components in 2017.

Smiley Wink I can live with that situation, because I'm doing most of my work with the main machine. But ..

Thanks

Walter

There must still be the ".AddIn" file for every of these plugins somewhere on your disk, you must copy them as well. These files tell Inventor where to look for the plugins. They'll be in one of these folders (my guess would be the first one):

Great, Mike. Got it now.

That's what I did:

- Search for filetype addin

- Found many of them here: C:/Users/My_Username/AppData/Roaming/Autodesk/Inventor 2017/AddIns (or other version of Inventor)

- Look into AddInLoadRules showed Registry location for Screenshot Addin, starting with B3AA6727 (Not obvious in 2017, but can be seen in 2016)

- Search for this naming showed entry on my main machine, nothing on my notebook

- Exported reg entry from main machine and imported it to notebook registry

- Renamed Addin folder on notebook to Addin-Notebookname

- Copied complete C:/Users/My_Username/AppData/Roaming/Autodesk/Inventor 2017/AddIns to notebook

After that Screenshot AddIn was present there

Thanks. You're the man

Walter
