Lookup/snoop tool

Hi there,

I'm a revit developper and I'm fairly new to the inventor programming business. What I am really missing is a tool which I wonder if it is available for inventor. In Revit there is a tool called Revit lookup (or Revit Snoop), which gives a developper all kinds of usefull information. You can get information about the openend document, the active database and the selected element.

Is such a tool available for inventor?

And if not, can somebody make it real fast please 🙂

I can't imaging there isn't because I can't do without it in Revit API.

HI R.van.den.Bor,

I looked at the link and could not determine what that tool does (I don't use Revit).

Can you provide a description of what it is / what it does / how it works?

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

It's like I wrote "You can get information about the openend document, the active database and the selected element."

So for instance, when I click on a family (part), I get all kind of information about this family (what parameters it has and where the are stored, what elementid it has ect.)

Hi Remy,

In case of Inventor you can simply use the VBA environment to snoop around in the database:
