Is it possible to do math with the BOM?

Is it possible to do math within the BOM? For example, if I'm using more than one upright, I need to use a bolt to couple them. An easy way to get a good approximation of how many bolts I need is to take the total number of uprights and subtract the number of ground pads.

I know I can do this math if I export the BOM to Excel, but is there an easy way to do this within Inventor?

Are you using Frame generator?

Aren't you modeling/including bolts in your model?

How are you representing a bolt in your BOM/Parts list? virtual components?

I am not modeling them in the assembly. I'm planning on adding them as a virtual component.Every upright will get a bolt. However, I only need to use the bolt if there is another upright that connects to it.

The idea is to get a fairly accurate count without going to a lot of work.

Hi! The quick answer is no. BOM table does allow you to formulate a given column based on data from other columns. For example, Description equals to Part Number plus Company. But, the math equation does not seem to allow. You will need to use iLogic rule to do that.

Many thanks!
