Inventor 2012 Import from Mechanical Desktop or AutoCAD Mechanical

Hello,

I'm pretty far behind the curve as I am just now moving from Mechanical Desktop and AutoCAD Mechanical into Inventor.  I am converting all .dwg files to inventor files while maintaining parametric features.  I've experienced a few kinks with conversion and was curious to know if anyone else out there had experienced the same and how you addressed it.

-I save a successfully converted file into the main project folder

-I move the file into a subfolder of the main import project folder

-I import an assembly that contains this already imported part

     - Normally Inventor will not reimport a file that already exists in the main import project folder (making future imports run quicker - great)

-But since I moved the file to a subfolder it imports the file to the main import project folder creating a duplicate of the file (not great)

Has anyone figured out a way to have all subfolders scanned for 'Existing' files prior to import?

Any input would be appreciated,

Candace

This was also posted to Inventor General Discussion as I'm not sure the best place to ask for help on this (apologies).

When we import the MDT files to Inventor, the 3D model will be imported, and the drawing view in paper space will be imported as DWG/IDW. But the associativity does not work. When the model file is updated, the drawing view will not be synced. We always support import MDT files in Inventor. For the ACAD 2D DWG file, we could import Inventor, and make it associative between source and target when using Inventor 2016/2017. When 2d DWG is updated in ACAD, the updates will be synced to Inventor after importing.
