Ilogic Form in Sheet Metal iPart for changing Material

I ran into a bit of difficulty today when I tried to use a sheet metal iLogic form in an iPart factory. Perhaps it isn’t the right method but I said I’d try it.

The form is inside the sheet metal template and uses internal rules for material, size and sheet metal rule changes etc.

It was working great until I created the second member and then went back to the first member and realized the material didn’t updated in the form to match the member. So I closed it and opened it and realized it was still set to the previous member materials etc. I had to manually switch it back.

Is there a mode in the form or particular code to avoid this interaction. 

I would like the multi value parameter in the form to always match the active material, sheet metal rule etc until the user switches the form and hits update. Hopefully this isn’t a chicken and egg scenario.

Any pointers would be great, this isn’t urgent. Just trying to setup workflows. I can post an .ipt later to show the workflow better.

Have you considered using a global form, and external rules?  Depending on how you have things set-up, you may then just have to set up your Event Triggers within the local files to launch the external rules.  You may need to create a simple rule just to launch the global form, but that rule could also be an external rule, which is fired by an Event Trigger.
