-i had sketch in autocad

-moved in inventor
-project the DWG lines
-i build up a face

-set up default value of sheet metal.
after couple of folds i cant anymore work on my model and i'm actually stock,
consider i installed this program 3 days ago so i think i missunderstand something
i attached the file with the 2d sketch, for make the sheet metal im using the one on the left

I have found that the flange command is easier to use than the fold command. I have not done a lot of experimenting with the fold command, but what I have noticed is that if the fold doesn't go through the entire part along the bend line and the tangent edges, it is difficult to work with.

I recommend watching this Video by @Neil_Cross at TFI. He does some great videos on his YouTube Channel, and it helps that he has a good sense of humor.

IF you check the draw you can see on the left sied there is a perfect geometry  ready to build up a face and to be folded! But after fold couple of side i cant continue and i got error evrytime

Hi @Anonymous,

I tried to open your part file, but it was blank. It may be a derived component dependent upon the presence of the original file. As I said earlier, I am not the best person to help you with the fold command as I have little experience with it. I'm not really sure how the fold command will work inside of a derived component. That being said, you may want to check the existing threads out there for help on using the fold command. Here are some links that may help you...

One thing I have found on your file.  Your Bend lines must be exact from edge to edge.  For the flat edges you are generally fine, but when your bend line touches your curved spline edges, you did not trim it to the exact edge.  After doing that I was able to bend that tab.

Hello P C.rawford

probably the file wrong,

now made a better a draw and i'm doing progress but im still stock with the mirror and i think is because the axex or the origin i attached  also the file so you can see, i think i'm right but  don't know why mirror command does not place the geometry in right spot

Hello  JamieVJohnson2,
i read your comment and i made some progress with it, now i understand how it works, i'm using inventor since 1 week so is new for me, now i've done a better sketch and i had a good result, the thing is im stock with the mirror,  i mean the geometry appear so far or so close, i guess is cause of the axis or the origin, i attached the file so you can check

Create a new workplane using the option Midplane between two planes, then use that workplane to mirror instead of your origin, because your model is asymmetrical.

Alternatively you can use Parallel to plane on point, and pick the midpoint of a horizontal edge, and then the origin plane parallel to your desired mirror plane.

However, since your trapezoidal vertical face is not symmetrical, the new face will not 'connect' as expected.
