How to change iProperties in multiple .idw files at the same time?

Hello,

Is there a way to change iProperties in several open .idw files at the same time?

I have a main assembly and in the title block I specify through custom iProperties Job number, customer name, address and etc.

The problem is that I also have a lot of standard library idw. drawings I include and need to enter job number, customer name and etc. in each single one of them, which takes a lot of time.

So I was wondering if there is a way to do this change once or somehow speed this process up? I would use excel to link it, but then I would have to specify path every time to a new excel file. Could probably use Vault, but I don't want to alter standard drawings with every job.

Maybe thru iLogic external rule somehow?

Hi

Have you tried "Design assistant"?

Make the changes to one drawing files and use Design Assistant to copy the changes to the other files.

Usage:

Right click on the drawing file. (I normally do it from the file open dialogue, but it can be accessed via explorer.)

Select design assistant

If not already selected, click on Properties on the Left hand side.

Right click on the drawing file and select "Copy design Properties"

Choose the respective properties to be copied on the left hand window.

On the right hand side, select the destination files.

click on copy

This process takes a few seconds to complete.

Thank you, it works very well.

But is there any way to avoid the info message popping out when the assembly checked in Vault?

Hi

Been a while since I worked with Vault. (Our office is so small we don't have a machine to run vault on, sad I know.) You might have to check everything out, or maybe only the GA?

Then again, Vault has changed so much since the last time I used it, you might even be able to do the design assistant changes using vault tools instead?

I am unable to help with this though.

I personally use design assistant with every job, cuts hours from most jobs.

Hi,

I have found another way to change multiple idw properties at once like custom properties, date, engineering approved by etc.

Select all relevant idw files in windows explorer.
Right click and select Iproperties.
Change appropriate properties and the change will appear when you open the idw in Inventor.

You may have to edit the revision box slightly to make that change appear like the date. So for that you can you just put an extra letter in the revision description or similar and then just remove that using the iproperties from within Inventor.
