"When it came to the thisForm.show line, I got an
error that said 'Compile error:  Variable not defined' and 'thisForm' was
highlighted in the code.  What am I doing wrong?"  \8^D

give a name to the form say frmMyForm then
frmMyForm.Show to open the form

unload.Me to close it
give this for a click event of a command button

If I'd been at work I'd have posted all the necessary code as I did this very thing last Friday morning for my addin. But I'm not at work this week hence the limited response.
