Full Threaded Bolts

Currently the bolts in Inventor 2015 come in with standard thread lengths. Example would be a 1/4-20 bolt 1.5 inches long, the thread is drawn at .75in long. This is correct for a standard bolt. My company uses full threaded bolts for some of its connections. meaning the thread would go the entire 1.5 inches of the bolt shaft. Has anyone made these or can explain to me how to create them.

Depends on your needs. You either can make custom content center content or add to your assembly "As custom" in the selection dialog. Then modify the parameters to extend the length of the threads. If it is only a few sizes and lengths it might be ok to just save a few as custom to a folder to be reused. I'd suggest making custom content only because it makes changing sizes/lengths quicker and while your at it you can modify the properties so they show up in your BOM's correctly.  This link shows how to make custom content.

Yes, I want to add it to the content center. We use a lot of different types of bolts and a lot of them have full threads. I will look at your link and see if it is what I need. I'll let you know. I may need to just make my own part and make a ipart. and publish it. I was hoping someone else already did this and I could just borrow thier creative abilities. 🙂

I made custom content, but not for fully threaded bolts, only for Descriptions/Part Numbers so BOM's couldn't be live and not hacked.
