Change mouse wheel settings in inventor

I've been learning Inventor and the mouse functions aren't intuitive. I've found how to reverse the mouse zoom but I would like to change orbit from "shift + mmb" to "mmb + shift" so I can swap between pan and orbit at will. Is there a way to change the mouse functions?

Many thanks

@Anonymous What do you mean?

On my computer when I use mmb I can pan and with shift+mmb I can orbit. That's way I swap between pan and orbit.

@VdVeek (Rob) the shortcuts work...they're just not really fluid.

I dont' want to have to break my movement to get back to obit. At the moment to get to pan from orbit i have to let go of my mmb to press shift and mmb to orbit. It's a little niggly that bugs me cause it's breaking my movement.

I want to click down my mmb press shift to orbit and let go of shift to get back to pan without ever lifting the mmb or going back to the edit inbetween... I dunno. Does that make more sense? Is there a way to change the mouse button functions?

I don't think that's posible. When you plan to use 3D software daily, consider a 3D Space mouse.

SketchUp has it and it works pretty well. Autodesk is better and has more stuff so I'm not comparing...it's just, it does actually work... but thank you for the reply 🙂

@Anonymous There is a way to swap the controls for Pan and Orbit. Simply go to File, Application Options, and click on the Display tab at the top, at the bottom you will see the 3D Navigation options and you are able to change the Middle Mouse Button Controls for Pan and Orbit. I simply swapped the MMB control with the Shift+MMB control, as you can see in the screen snips below, which works well as I use Orbit a lot more than I use Pan.

There are also other helpful options like zoom direction included in this 3D Navigation section.

Hope that helps anyone with this issue...

Thank you for sharing this. I have gone to 3 three different threads to find this, and all I keep seeing is "get use to the software." Personally, I see nothing wrong with switching mouse controls if it improves your work flow. Not only will it make your design process more time effective, but you learn how to manipulate the software to your own preference.

Again thank you!
