I am not sure I understand where you are wanting to add to, but take a look at some of the

Not applicable
Interactively you add, delete, and edit materials using the "Format |
Materials" command. The equivalent of this functionality in the API is
through the Materials collection and the Material object. In the online
programming help there's a sample called "Material Create" that demonstrates
this.

however what I'm trying to do is add new alloyes like inconel 718 and 17-4
or mp35.
