Using Vault Addin to check in/out files

Hi

is it possible to use the Inventor Vault AddIn to perform simple actions?
I would like to automate Inventor to checkout file(s) from vault, perform some actions on the files (setting properties, ...), save the changes and then check-in the file(s) again.

And everything should be as simple as possible, so I would like to avoid "learning" the web-services Vault API.

There's another newsgroup for Vault that would be better for this question,
but as far as I'm aware there is not an API for the Vault Add-In (the client
side of Vault), only for the Vault server.
