Turning off parts in a sub assembly

I've got a guard with different handles, which handles that are on depend on the parameters in the higher level assembly. When the parameters are updated the guard assmebly updates and turns on/off the differnt handles. BUT the guard that is placed into the main assembly would update. Why is this and how can I fix it?

Thanks,
Aaron Schlaack

Hi ASchlaack,
You probably have the 'Master' View Representation of the sub-assembly
active in the top level, and not an editable view rep. Remember you can't
turn off the visibilities of parts in the 'Master' view rep, so you will
need another rep, such as 'Default', which should be the one active in the
top level asm.

There could be other reasons for this, but that's what I'd try first
Best regards,
Luke
