Set appearance override on part from assembly

Hi,

I'm using the Inventor 2014 API to set an appearance override on a part from an assembly which doesn't contain said part. My code gets the part document object from the application documents collection (or opens it invisibly, if necessary). The ActiveAppearance property is then set to be an asset which should be locally available in the part document. There's no problems up to this point. However, when I open the changed part, the Quick Acces Toolbar shows the appearance override, but the graphical window does not. Using the QAT to set the appearance override to something else updates the graphics. The issue is, the code creates several parts from the original part and this strange behavior persists in these documents. Sadly, manually setting all the appearance overrides is not an option. Does anyone know of an alternative method or workaround to circumvent this issue?

Thanks in advance.
