Hi.

I want to know if it is possible to create secondLevelTooltips on my own buttons.

If it is possible, can anyone tell me how?

If you're talking about the "progressive" tooltips that Inventor 2010 has, the answer is that it's not currently possible to do these via the Inventor API.

Hi, Jeff.

Yes, it is the tooltips that appear after the regular tooltip I'm talking about.

Are there any plans for API support for these in the future?

And as we speak of tooltips...

It might be a bug in 2010, the tooltip is not updating on ribbon buttons.

I have an AddIn that changes the tooltip on some of the buttons in given situations. The tooltip is updating on the toolbar-button (Yes, I have a custom toolbar in my AddIn) but the same buttondefinition placed on the ribbon is not changing tooltip.

Is this as designed, or do I have to do something more to update the tooltip (is there a "ribbonupdate" I have to call?)

Hi again -

I'm not aware of specific plans to support the progressive tooltips via the API, though it's definitely something that we have requested, so I hope so.

I don't think there's a way to change the tooltip (or the icon) of a ControlDefinition after it's been created. This is also something that we've asked for, but isn't on any plan yet.

OK, let's hope they listen to us 🙂

The tooltip of controldefinitions can be changed in 2009 and in Classic UI in 2010, they should definitely "fix" this for the ribbon UI.

Thanks
