Problems with Excel and Inventor

I have an excel sheet linked with an Inventor drawing.

After I extrude the part that I am designing and I need to amend the dimensions on excel, the drawing does not update with the new dimensions, is this because I am extruding before updating?

Is this normal?

TIA

Inventor should update dimensions after you save your excel file.

Alternatively you need to click "Update" icon.

Yes, I've been trying that but for some reason whatsoever its not updating the drawing, I would need to stay linking the excel file again.

Is the extension of the excel file the same as you filled in in your ilogic or vba?

Could you explain how the excel file is linked?

  • Direct link with parameters and no ilogic, Embeded in the document or external
  •  ilogic go excel
  • Excel application

Can you provide the following?

  •  ilogic/VBA code
  • Where is the excel file saved local, shared network,Google drive etc?
  • How are you accessing the file to make the change through inventor(3rd party etc)  or through windows first?
  • What inventor version.

Hi, thank you for your time.

The excel file is directly linked with the Inventor drawing that I am doing at the moment, then using the parameters function on Inventor I link the excel drawing directly to the drawing.

At the moment the excel file is saved locally on my computer.

I am using the Inventor Professional 2022 version.

I am accessing the files using Windows first.

For some reason it is not allowing me to upload a .xlsm file onto the forum.

Thank you for your help.

I think you might have a duplicate post open. If you prefer to pursue one or the other you can link or solve either one. I am not sure if linked parameter supports .xlsm files try it out with .xlsx first.

You could access the file through 3rd party and carry out a save.
