Possible with an iLogic form to do a "find and replace" for color?

The workflow I envision:

1) Make copy-design a part or assembly that's blue but needs to be red. The blue is a custom blue with a specific name.

2) Open the copied version, and activate a global form.

3) In the form, the user selects the "from" color (blue) and the "to" color (red) from dropdown boxes.

4) The user presses a "go" button.

5) Inventor looks through every surface on whatever part or assembly is open, and if it finds the blue color, it changes it to red.

Is that possible with iLogic?

This seems possible.. The copy design element is most likely the more difficult bit of the request. But there are many samples in this forum but they will need to be tailored to your needs. How comfortable are you with ilogic?

  • Are you looking to change the part appearance or override the part appearance in the assembly environment?
  • Is there partial coloring of faces?
  • Is there sub assemblies, content center parts to avoid, virtual parts etc?

If you can post a sample assembly for testing purposes and any code you may have started on.
