International names of materials and appearances?

How are materials handled in an international context?

I'm in Italy with an English Inventor 2015. A part file came from Germany and was called CU - Rame on an Italian computer. On my English computer it was called CU - Copper.

So the material name had stayed the same, but the appearance name changed automatically and correctly according to the language of the computer. How is this handled in the API? If I want to change a material, what language should I use?

Asset object has both Name and DisplayName properties.

DisplayName is displayed in the Material browser and could depend on the localization.  Name property is the key name of the asset that will remain constant for all languages and is the name used as input to the Item property.

Hi there,

I have a lot of models which i have set material appearces on. I did this by selecting the solid then selecting a color from the appearance dropdown about the ribbon. I do this so components are easier to locate and differeniate from other parts (all parts are made from steel).

When someone else opens the part in a different language pack of Inventor all the colors revert to grey.

Is there anyway to make the colors work on different language packs of Inventor?

thanks,

John
