iLogic Part Problme

I am curious as to what has happened to the iLogic Ribbon for this part.  I copied a part from the Content Center to use as a go by for a part.  I am going to be creating some parts with iLogic rules.  Since I am new to the iLogic thing, I am just trying to play with it on a part that is already created.  When I open a part that I have drawn (i.e. a quick box) the rule tab allows me to create rules.  This flange that was copied from the content center and modified will not allow me to create a rule.  It is greyed out.  See attached.

Any reason this might be.  I am assuming it has something to do with the fact that it once was a content center part, but since it is no longer in the content center and on my hard drive and I have made changes to the part it just doesn't make sense.  Of course that is what happens when I assume things...

Thanks,

Tommy

We didn't foresee using Content Center parts in this way, but it makes sense.

You should be able to avoid this problem by generating the part from the Content Center as a Custom part (instead of Standard).

To get iLogic to work in this part, you can run the attached external iLogic rule on it.  Please don't run it on a real Content Center part!

- Save this external rule file to a folder on your hard drive.

- Open the part, and click the External tab on the Rules Browser (use the Rule Browser command to make it visible if you can't see it)

- Right-click on the top node, which will be called External Rules in Files,  and choose Add External Rule

- Browse for and select this rule file.

- Right-click on the rule, and choose Run Rule

- Save the part.

Then you should be able to add rules to the part.

Note: These steps shouldn't be necessary for parts that have been generated as Custom parts.

Thanks for the feedback.  I see what you are saying about the custom part.  That makes sense.  I was just trying to save some time drawing parts so I could work on learning the iLogic command etc.  Again, Thanks,

Using the As Custom option will still allow you to generate and use geometry from Content Center. The As Custom option will configure and copy the part from the Content Center, and allow you to save it in your project workspace for editing.
