ilogic parameter matching based on parameter

Good morning all,

I am really new to Ilogic and i'm trying to create a rule to link multiple FX parameters based on user input. For example if I start out with material as a multi-value list (303 SS, 304 SS, 316 SS) from there i have a second FX parameter call specification (Nominal, Press Fit, Slip Fit). depending on the selection i want to go to a FX parameter calling out size (Ø5/16, Ø.3124, or Ø.3126. Any help would be great!

Thanks!

You can use a rule like the following

IF material = "303 SS" AND specification = "Nominal" Then

Size = "Ø5/16"

End If.

You will need to have the 'SIZE' parameter to be a text  if you want the diameter symbol to show.  and then just simply repeat the rule for all valid combinations.

Let me know if you need more help.

Rodney,

Thanks! That is getting me started! So my next question is...

i have the "size" parameter set up as text. What I want to do is have "Size" show as a multi-line, but read from 1 of 3 other parameters. those are Nominal, Press_Fit, & Slip_Fit. I want to make this into a form with drop downs and want to limit the amount of choices that I offer based off of the "Specification" parameter.

Ken,

When you say multi-line are you wanting a drop down list of the items?   If so you can just populate the list and keep the formula the same just make sure that what you reference in the multi-line text is formatted exactly like the iLogic rule.

To make a form just simply create a new form under the form tab and drag the parameters from the left hand browser bar to the place you want on the form.   To edit the way the form looks you can then select the parameter and change its properties in the bottom dialogue box.

also when you say you want to limit the choices based on the specifications parameter can you explain further or post a small diagram of the selections filters.  This will just require a slightly different approach to the basic iLogic and have the iLogic populating the multi-value text box instead of simply selecting the text from a prefilled box.
