Creating a Parts Library for Company Use

Hello,

We have two Inventor Drafters at our company and need to use a lot of the same parts over and over.  I made a great number of assemblies, but when reopening them have found that the Inventor library parts that Inventor supplies don't find their path quite often. To avoid that difficulty I made the parts myself, but I am sure there is an easier fix to the problem that I am not aware of.

(I am a basically a novice with Inventor. I have attended one entry level Inventor 2010 class at a community college and learned from  that class and the tutorials.  I have been working with Inventor for 5 months at my current job.)

So my problem is that I do not know what is wrong with the location of my current Inventor library and I also want to create a library with all the common parts that myself and my co-worker have to use daily for our assemblies.  I looked at the tutorial, but I don't want to mess anything up and it seemed pretty over my head.  Is there a step by step procedure that more clearly describes how to create libraries within a company with multi users?  We have one technical drive that all of our Inventor files are stored on, so each has access to the other's work.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

No not yet. Is it hard to use and its that the way to go? Is there a tutorial for it?

Ok. News flash.  We use a parts system called Macola that is not compatible with Vault.  Early on, apparently, it was causing issues, so we have to get around using Vault to store a library that everyone can access and our drawings can find the path for.  Is there a way to do that?

Thanks for your help in advance!

I am sorry then,

Few months back we had issue with vault not picking up the

older libraries migrated to server (Necessity of vault)

The migration of libraries was an issue which was giving us some

problem. This is the reason for asking whether you use Vault.

I think I can't be of any help. I might suggest talking to some Autodesk

representative.
